Textual content description supplied by the architects. Refugio Hachi is a challenge positioned within the rural space of the Villarrica commune in southern Chile. It’s located on a plot with plentiful native forest and, with the purpose of preserving the present timber and profiting from the sunshine and warmth, it was determined to find the challenge in the one out there clearing. The shopper, a jeweler, needed a refuge that not solely served as her house, but in addition as a spot to design and work. The design of this area needed to meet the next necessities: thermal effectivity, consolation, spaciousness, illumination, and views of the native forest.

As it’s a challenge of some sq. meters, it was determined to design a single massive area, meting out with dividing partitions and utilizing degree modifications to mark the distinction between areas. The challenge has three ranges; it’s accessed from the southeast, the decrease degree, the place the laundry, loggia, and kitchen are positioned, and the place the morning mild enters. Then, climbing two steps, you attain the primary space, the place the lounge is positioned, which advances in the direction of the north in search of morning, noon, and afternoon mild.

On this similar space to the south is the workspace, thus receiving oblique mild, supreme for this occupation. Lastly, on the third degree, two extra steps up, is the primary room, the lavatory dealing with south, and a protected island bathtub inside. The latter is positioned in a quantity that advances in the direction of the northwest providing views of the native forest from all sides. The roof of the challenge transforms in line with every area, producing massive home windows that search daylight and forest views.

For the challenge flooring, a single materials was looked for all areas, with out seen joints, with a country look, and on the similar time straightforward to wash. With these necessities, vitrified concrete was chosen, which was handcrafted by a neighborhood ceramist. All partitions and ceilings are manufactured from white bone-painted plasterboard in order to not detract from the origami-like morphology of the ceiling. The wooden seen inside is previous bridge buildings from the world that have been rescued for the challenge.

These items of wooden have been used for various capabilities; two massive previous beams have been used for the extent modifications, leaving them overlapping instantly on the ground and every change between areas is accompanied by a wood arch of huge sections, separated from the partitions to permit a view of the pillars from all sides. In the primary area, a big truss was left in view. These woods have an ornamental and purposeful that means on the similar time. The outside is roofed with pre-painted black zinc that covers a lot of the challenge, aside from the amount that advances in the direction of the north, which was lined with native stone, put in by native stonemasons.
